For years, development and improvement of consumer-orientated single stage Gen 1 technology has stood still – until now. Traditionally, Gen 1 tubes are made of glass – making them quite fragile and easily damaged, and have relatively low resolution, with very evident image edge distortion.
Introducing an Armasight exclusive – CORE (Ceramic Optical Ruggedized Engine) technology image intensifier tubes! While CORE does not contain a micro channel plate (and so by definition lands in the Gen 1 category) that is where the parallels end. Instead of glass, CORE tubes use a specially formulated ceramic compound fused with metal alloys similar to those used in production of Gen 2 and Gen 3 image intensifier tubes. Further advances in CORE have almost removed edge distortion, dramatically increased photo-sensitivity and most importantly, almost doubled resolution up to 70 lp/mm!
Armasight Spark-G night vision goggle systems built around CORE (Ceramic Optical Ruggedized Engine) image intensifier tubes. Unlike Gen 1 Image intensifier tubes, which are fragile because they are made from glass, CORE™ IITs are made just like Gen 2 and Gen 3 – by fusing metal alloys with ceramic compounds. CORE™ technology is based on durable elements and allows tight component stacking, resulting in image tubes that are exceptionally shockproof and vibration- resistant. Robust packaging protects easy-to-break protrusions common in Gen 1 tubes, and allows for a streamlined design that is lighter, more compact, and more reliable than average night vision devices. The CORE™ platform offers ‘best in class’ resolution with 60-70 lp/mm and an increased photocathode sensitivity level of upwards of 400µA/lm, providing high image quality even in difficult ambient light conditions, rivaling high-end Gen 2 image tubes. The Armasight Spark-G is a rugged and lightweight night vision monocular. The Armasight Spark-G come complete with headgear, which allows the unit to be mounted for hands-free operation.

Better than most gen 1’s Needed something to check up on the animals at night that wouldn’t alert everything to my presence. I had tried other gen 1 night vision units and most were very grainy, whereas this one is very clear. I live near a city so generally there’s enough back light from the clouds to see everything fairly well but I do have to use the built in IR illuminator when I go indoors. Moonlight makes it almost to bright, but you can’t see in the shadows.Headgear isn’t bad but I’ve only used it…

This is a great device. Was able to trial a Gen II … WOW! This is a great device. Was able to trial a Gen II monocular 6-7 years ago and was impressed with the resolution and field of view. Have also looked into modern Gen I packages and have been unimpressed with their resolution and very narrow field of view and poor sight picture beyond 20-25 yards. This has a built in IR illuminator that functions out 7-10 yards inside. The resolution is at least as good as the Gen II devices mentioned above. But, those were and continue to be $2500 -…
